Los Pinos Fire Protection District's 2007 Recruit Class Photo Gallery
January of 2007 represented another milestone for the Los Pinos Fire Protection District. The Board of Directors had approved an increase to our staffing levels in 2006, and a selection process was scheduled to hire five new personnel, three to increase shift staffing and two to fill open positions due to turnover.
This being the largest influx of new personnel into the district from the outside (past hiring included a number of former volunteer members); the decision was made to put on LPFD’s first Recruit Academy. While putting together the program, a volunteer candidate expressed interest in attending the academy as well. This brought the number of students to six.
January 8th, 2007 was the start of training. These folks endured lectures and hands-on training in all facets of the services delivered by the Los Pinos Fire Protection District. After 10 weeks of instruction, the class graduated on March 16th, 2007. The successful candidates include Firefighter/Medic Cyler D. Beeson; Firefighter/Medic Craig M. Fischer; Firefighter/Medic Marilywn D. Gurule; Firefighter/Medic Max C. Howard; Firefighter/Medic Bret J. Joseph; and Firefighter/Medic Phillip J. Kniep.
The class was coordinated/facilitated by Assistant Chief Bill Shank and Firefighter/Medic Tony Stephens. Instructors from within the Fire District, as well as outside experts, presented the material.
