Shortly after 0700 hours on December 4th, 2007 the Los Pinos Fire District was dispatched to 555 Goddard Avenue in Ignacio for a reported Structure Fire. Units arrived and found Ignacio Movies, a video rental store, heavily charged with smoke.

A coordinated interior attack was underway with a line stretched to the “C” side entry into the store, and ventilation taking place at the “A” side of the structure. Shortly after the ventilation crew opened up the front of the store interior conditions deteriorated to the point that the attack crew on side “C” was withdrawn and an exterior attack was commenced from the “A” side of the building.

Vertical ventilation was accomplished by opening the roof of the building above the fire. Some minor extension into the “D” side exposure occurred, but the bulk of the fire was contained to the original fire building. Mutual Aid assistance was provided by the Upper Pine Fire District. Photos were provided by Tallas Cantsee of the Fort Lewis Intertribal News and Chief Kirk Phillips of the Ignacio Police Department.
