FIRE RESTRICTIONS
Due to the current high temperatures, dry fuel conditions, and the occurrence of recent wildland fires, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions have been implemented for all trust lands throughout the Southern Ute Indian Reservation. We are asking that everyone be very cautious and use common sense with fire this time of year,” says Howard Richards, Jr., Fire Operations Specialist with the Southern Ute Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs. FIRE DANGER LEVELS
Click on the "FIRE DANGER LEVELS" button on the left to view the latest OBSERVED and FORECAST Fire Danger Rating Levels from the USFS Wildland Fire Assessment System. The Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS), is an internet-based information system. The current implementation provides a national view of weather and fire potential, including national fire danger maps.

FIRE WEATHER FORECAST
Click on the “FIRE WEATHER” button to link to the latest Fire Weather Planning Forecast from the National Weather Service’s Grand Junction Office. “Fire Weather” is a term used for the meteorological conditions that promote the spread of wildfire. The following weather conditions promote ignition and rapid spread of fires: low humidity; high winds (over 10-20 mph); dry thunderstorms (i.e., lightning without rain); and unstable air.

Los Pinos Fire District
The Los Pinos Fire Protection District provides fire suppression and emergency medical services to a 325 square mile area of Southwest Colorado. The Fire District encompasses portions of LaPlata and Archuleta Counties, and includes the communities of Oxford, Tiffany, Allison, Arboles, and the Town of Ignacio. A substantial portion of the District consists of Southern Ute Tribal Lands, Bureau of Land Management property, territory belonging to the U.S. Forest Service, Division of Wildlife areas, and land owned by the State of Colorado.
